Why would I want more than one monitor?
As computer technology has improved it has become much easier and more common to run several applications at the same time. However, running all of these programs in one small window has become increasingly difficult. Recent studies have shown that having more than one monitor can greatly increase productivity and overall enjoyment of using a PC. Multiple studies have shown that using two or more monitors can increase productivity by 50% or more. One study concluded, "As hypothesized, multi-screen configurations scored significantly higher in usability than the single screen on every measure in every task."

There is also a more subjective benefit to using more than one monitor, which is that using more than one monitor just seems more enjoyable. One Microsoft study concluded, "A second monitor improves efficiency in ways that are difficult to measure yet can have substantial subjective benefit." Not only will you get more work done using a CineMassive display, but you will also enjoy it more.
Can my computer support multiple monitors?
Most computers made in the past five years are capable of supporting more than one monitor. In order to support more than one monitor your system must have more than one monitor port and use Windows Vista, Windows XP or Windows 2000. If you do not have more than one monitor port, you most likely only need a simple graphics card upgrade. A CineMassive Displays representative can help you select the right graphics card and help you determine exactly which CineMassive displays are compatible with your system.

Mac OS has supported multiple monitors for over a decade, but it is not supported by CineMastery.
How many monitors can my system support?
Most systems can easily support two monitors, and with a small upgrade most systems can support three monitors. With the proper hardware configuration the CineMastery software can allow your PC to support as many as 16 or more monitors.
What type of monitors can my system support?
In order to support an analogue monitor, your system must have an analogue monitor port (also known as a VGA port) or a DVI port with an analogue adapter. It is possible for one DVI port to support two analogue monitors with a splitter cable, but that feature must be supported by the graphics card. In order to support a digital monitor, your system must have one DVI port for every digital monitor you want to support on your system (there are a few graphics cards that use a cable to turn one DVI port into two, but those cards are not common.)
Can I run different programs on different monitors?
Yes! Our CineMastery multi-monitor software helps you manage different programs on different monitors or stretch programs in order to run them across multiple monitors. For example, if you had four monitors you could easily run a web browser on one monitor, your e-mail client on another monitor, have news streaming in a third monitor, and running a spreadsheet program in a forth monitor. Can I play games on more than one monitor?
Only a few games explicitly support multiple monitors. However, most games that support windowed mode can span across multiple monitors by stretching the screen. DirectX 8 and above support hardware acceleration across multiple monitors, but normally all monitors have to be run off of the same graphics card. One excellent exception is the Microsoft Flight Simulator series. Flight Simulator 2004 and later versions support up to four displays that can be run off of separate graphics cards.
Can I play video over multiple monitors?
There are several programs that allow you to play video across multiple monitors. All of the monitors playing the video must be connected to the same video card in order to get full hardware acceleration. However, video does not generally look better when it is spanned across multiple displays. Instead, we recommend using multiple high-resolution wide-screen panels and allow each video to play in fullscreen within its own panel. The Trio 30D and Trio 24TW models are ideally suited for multi-monitor video viewing and production.
Can I use multiple monitors in portrait mode?
Yes, if your graphics card supports portrait mode, then it will be able to support multiple monitors in portrait mode.

Our multi-monitor stand uses a patented pivot system that uniquely allows effortless and tooless fingertip tilt swivel and rotation on any panel to ensure optimal orientation and viewing angle. More information about our multi-monitor mounts.
