CineMassive CinePort DX2 - External Dual Monitor Laptop Solution
multi-monitor laptop mobility solution - Cineport CinePort Technology
The CinePort is a mobile graphics card that plugs directly into your laptop's PC card port (CardBus) and allows you to add up to four additional displays to your laptop. When combined with your laptop's built-in display and built-in external monitor port, you can run up to six displays from one laptop.

Other products that enable multiple monitors on a laptop merely add additional monitor ports to your system without adding any additional processing power. The individual monitors are treated like one big monitor, which means that you won't get all the advantages of a true multi-monitor experience. The end result is lower resolution, lower image quality, and a slower system that is suddenly forced to do far more work without any additional power.

The CinePort adds an additional Graphics Processing Unit to help manage the additional monitors. The end result is a rich, vibrant image displayed on fully independent monitors. Navigate seamlessly across all connected displays while running different applications on each display, or span one program across two or more displays. Your laptop will use the power of the CinePort to help manage all the information on the additional displays.

CinePort Compatibility

The CinePort uses a PC Card slot in order to interface with the laptop. In order for a laptop to be compatible with the CinePort, the laptop must have an available PC Card slot (also know as a PCMCIA expansion slot.)

Apple Compatibility
The CinePort DX2 is available in an ATI version that is compatible with Mac PowerBooks with a PCMCIA expansion slot. The operating system must be OS 9.X or OSX v10.2.2 or later.

Windows Compatibility The CinePort works best with laptops running Windows 2000/XP with a compatible CardBus controller. Texas Instruments and Toshiba CardBus controllers provide optimal performance with the CinePort, while 02Micro and ENE controllers may cause stability and performance issues. Ricoh CardBus controllers will not work with the CinePort.

Follow these steps to determine the CardBus controller in your laptop:
  • Left click the “Start” button in Windows and select the “Control Panel.”
  • At the “Control Panel” go to System>Hardware>Device Manager
  • Expand the item that says “PCMCIA adapters.” Note the brand of the adapter. In some cases, there may be two adapters.
The CinePort also works with Windows Vista following the same guidelines as laptops using Windows 2000/XP. Vista users should also note that the CinePort does not support the 3D Aero interface.

Please contact CineMassive Displays for any questions concerning compatibility. You must first have your system approved by a CineMassive Displays in order to take advantage of the Compatibility Guarantee.

For a $50 set-up fee plus the cost of shipping, CineMassive Displays will check compatibility and completely install and configure the CinePort with your laptop.
